Job Description

Position Overview

Global responsibility for Siemens PLM’s purchasing volume in the IT Consulting and Services commodity. Organization, controlling and steering of all strategic procurement and demand pooling activities in cross-functional teams with the objective of establishing best value and / or lowest TCO for given requirements. Development of a competitive supply base jointly with key internal clients.

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned commodities and ensure effective cross-functional alignment globally
  • Establish spend transparency and long-range requirements forecasting in order to develop effective commodity strategies and facilitate efficient and effective financial and management reporting
  • Define and execute procurement and pooling strategies including global sourcing in order to leverage Siemens PLM’s entire spend and Siemens’ SCM Network in the assigned commodities and align with Purchasing Councils (PUC’s) where appropriate
  • Define, implement and execute negotiation and contracting strategies to reach the targeted contractual relationships based on internal client requirements maximizing savings and other commercial benefits  
  • Promote and facilitate the use of Siemens contract templates and contract management systems
  • Manage virtual teams consisting of procurement and cross-functional resources in order to effectively organize strategic procurement activities for global and local/regional sourcing projects
  • Promote the use of commodity- or industry-specific e-procurement tools or applications
  • Identify risks and opportunities related to current or future requirements in the assigned commodities and initiate related action plans with the relevant internal client where appropriate
  • Coordinate and guide supplier management activities including supplier qualification, selection, evaluation, and development activities based on procurement strategy and internal clients’ requirements

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Bachelors Degree required (preferably in Business Administration or Supply Chain Management
  • MCIPS or CPSM certification (ISM) or equivalent
  • 5+ years experience in Strategic Procurement leadership, Strategic Sourcing or Commodity Management role for IT Consulting and Services
  • 5+ years experience in different roles in the Siemens SCM Network
  • Proven track record in Commodity Management in an international context
  • Demonstrated expert knowledge and multi-year experience in the sourcing, negotiations, and contracting process for the IT Consulting and Services commodity and other Professional Services
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated leadership skills to guide cross-functional team members along the procurement process in virtual team settings
  • Expert knowledge in
    • Requirement analysis and contracting process for services
    • Contract law
    • Change management, in order to lead stakeholders to new and improved processes and procedures
  • Clear understanding of the procurement role in a project cycle and state-of-the-art project procurement practices
  • Advanced level of facilitation, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Capability to negotiate and to operate in different cultures
  • Strategically uses knowledge as creative force for change
  • Experience in the software industry and / or project management certifications are preferred
  • Required travel 15-20% UK, EMEA and other global locations.
