Job Description


Position Title: Systems Engineer

Position Scope:

We are seeking a strong technical engineer with a solid business and technical background, a solid understanding of Enterprise Software delivery in the Smart Meter/Smart Grid Utility space, and experience with current and prevalent web technologies. Understanding of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), Meter Data Management (MDM), and Demand Response and Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems is a plus. This is an analytical, technical, problem-solving, customer facing position focused on, deployment and installation on internal and customer project environments. Ideal candidates will possess the ability to work independently, remotely and multi-task in very fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

    Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure

    Upkeep and configure the reliable operation of internal project servers

    Deploy on internal and customer project environments

    Provide expertise and guidance in Technical architecture

    Manage concurrent configuration tasks across multiple development and project environments

    Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes

    Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies

    Configure internal network devices and network infrastructure maintenance.

    Provide support to the Infrastructure Lead with the development of the Technical Architecture Specification on larger projects

    Perform the technical design of technical architecture components on Application Development Projects

    Develop and unit test the technical architecture components

    Experience working with Linux or Unix like environments.  Scripting proficiency in Linux is a plus.

    Experience writing SQL queries

    Oracle DB administration experience is a plus.

    Implement and deliver projects with minimal supervision.

    Work collaboratively with the Solution Architect, Custom Application Development team, and internal product team to deliver innovative solutions for our customers.

Academic and Experience Criteria:

    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or relevant discipline

    4-6 years of experience of product/components design/development in EnergyIP or related enterprise platform

    2+ years of extensive customer-facing consulting experience

    Knowledge in any software programming language (Java/C++/VB).

    Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills.

    Should be able to work independently based on defined goal.

    Excellent organizational skills, documentation ability, attention to detail.

    Structured approach to troubleshooting and Quality problem solving methodologies.

Core Skills:

    Full Project Lifecycle experience on a large implementation program, including definition, estimation, requirements gathering, configuration, and delivery.

    Fundamental understanding of utility industry and smart grid/smart meter technology.

    Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, work well with people from a variety of different backgrounds and cultures, build relationships with clients and co-workers, work independently and as part of a team, take active measures to solve problems and commit to a high level of service.
