We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and diligent Associate Director to join our Energy team based in our Macquarie Park, Sydney offices. 

Key Responsibilities include:
 
  • Representing the Energy Finance (“EF”) Business in Australia Lead Country (located in Sydney), with emphasis on syndicated debt deals in the following main areas:
    • Onshore Wind projects;
    • Solar PV deals with mostly Siemens customers / promoters, solar PV transactions with Siemens scope or with SGRE as EPC
    • Wind / Solar PV projects with a Storage element, plus potential Liquefied Hydrogen plants; 
    • Distributed Energy Systems (“DES”) deals involving Siemens with mainly energy elements (in off take) opposed to Industrial plants 
  • Generating financial solutions in close coordination with the Financial Advisory, Equity- and Risk Management teams in Singapore for Siemens businesses in Australia & NZ  
  • To generate structured solutions (including cash flow modeling, pricing and asset analysis, creation of term sheets to enable the deal team to offer optimal debt solutions as vital part of the financial offering to Siemens Australia Lead Country, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy and third party customers  
  • To originate and execute third party deals and thereby enhance new business and build up asset volume, essentially contributing to the overall SFS strategy (the Energy Market for Business opportunities, Prescreening & assessment of transaction feasibility, Issue term sheets and offers) including suitable secondary market transactions, refinancings, event driven deals, potential capital market transactions and portfolio financings (hybrid deals with mixture of corporate & PF elements) 
  • Closely coordinate with the other Project and Structured Finance colleagues in the Asia Australia region
  • Meet or exceed annual budgeted volume, EVA, margin and profitability objectives associated with the assigned markets 
  • Presentation of opportunities during prescreen and credit approval stages 
  • Collaborate with internal business partners (e.g. Risks, Legal Ops, etc) to ensure transactions are completed and funded  
  • Identify suitable equity transaction to be referred to the SFS Equity team
  • Act as back-up for the Singapore based EF Debt team in cases of Leave/ Paid Time Off
The successful candidate will possess:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor degree in Finance / MBA – Finance preferred 
  • Minimum 5 years experience with at least 3 concurrent years of recent experience in Australia 
  • Should have broad and deep commercial understanding and awareness of the finance industry in the context of project financing 
  • Knowledge of the Australian National Energy Market, including key players, market dynamics and business mechanics will be required 
  • Previous experience in the involvement, negotiation and execution of complex project finance deals for Solar PV or Wind transactions is required 
  • Diversified experience in financial service business and/or broader commercial business management will be an added advantage
  • Competencies in structuring and executing M & A deals, being networked with financial providers, understanding the implications of regulatory and legal requirements will be an added advantage
  • Possess strong communication skills and have the ability to work in a multicultural environment 
  • Be able to demonstrate and upon request provide a list of successful projects closed, plus elaboration on the exact role played with these closings
  • Medium amount of travelling will be required
