Engineering Method Tool Developer for Parameterized Design – Design tool ‘Nx’ Open development

This position is in PG PR R&D in the Common Technical Tools (CTT) group which is responsible for development of design tools that are used by the product design engineers.  Duties will include all stages of the software development process including requirements, design, development, testing, and implementation.

  • This position uses cutting edge computing tools and technologies to design power generation components.
  • This position includes numerous opportunities for career growth within our global engineering community.
  •      This position provides collaboration and communication with design engineers in R&D, engineers throughout the Siemens engineering    community, senior management, external technical partners, and universities throughout our many locations in the US, Europe, India, China, Russia, and more.
  • This in an opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a project that is focused on the creation of new tools that leverage the very latest in computing technologies. An innovative person will be extremely successful in this position using a combination of commercial and internally developed software programs.
  • This is a unique opportunity to develop computing technologies for the complete design/manufacture chain: Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE), Computer Aided Design (CAD), and Computer-Aided Manufacture (CAM).

We don’t need superheroes, just super minds

       Bachelor/Master degree in Computer, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering from recognized university

  • 5+ years of experience in computing tool development in the areas of Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine, and/or Generator Mechanical Design.
  • This resource will provide critical tool development skills in the area of automated & parametric mechanical design using tools such as NX for 3D FEA. Other areas of focus will include life prediction methods, additive manufacturing, the CAE/CAD/CAM design chain, multi-disciplinary optimization, validation and testing suites, and complex data management.

  • Development of software tools for engineering design applications
  • Mechanical methods
  • Thermal methods
  • FEA / CFD Tools
  • Multidisciplinary design and optimization techniques

  • Good communication skills in English – both verbal and written
  • A good team player
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage software development projects to satisfy technical, budget, and schedule requirements
  • Computer languages (e.g. Python, Java, FORTRAN, C/C++)
  • Operating systems (e.g. Linux, MS Windows)
  • Commercial design applications (e.g. FEA, CFD, CAD)
  • Software Development Process
