Introduction

For our Corporate Technology (CT) in Beijing, Siemens is looking for a lead research scientist / research scientist of Mechanical Engineering and Finite Elements Analysis at Sept 1st, 2018.

The Corporate Technology (CT, www.ct.siemens.com) department with over 1,900 research operatives worldwide occupies a special position within Siemens' R&D facilities. It functions as an international network of expertise and as a global partner for technology and innovations. Through its R&D activities in Germany, China, the USA, India, Russia, Japan and Eastern Europe, Corporate Technology helps secure the company's technological future and bolster its competitiveness.

What are my responsibilities?
  

You will work in a startup-like environment in the Software Defined Inverter (SDI) technology field of CT REE. The SDI technology field is dedicated to research and development on tomorrow’s power converters using the most advanced technologies especially regarding semiconductors, control and software approaches mainly for PCB-based designs.
 

Your responsibilities will include:
 

  • To develop housings for our prototypes, keeping in mind mechanical stability, mechanical interfaces between different parts of the prototypes, etc.;
  • To plan the mechanical setup of our prototypes and to advise your team colleagues regarding the placement of different parts;
  • To do finite element analyses of mechanical structures, especially regarding cooling properties and magnetic/electrical behavior;
  • To help with the 3D-printing of the parts you designed;


What do I need to qualify for this job?

Your qualification should include:

  • Master degree or above, major in a related knowledge domain

  • Fluency in English

  • Above 2 years of experience in mechanical engineering

Qualifications that would be beneficial:

  • Experience with FEM analyses

  • Experience with electronics and cooling system design

  • Experience in a research environment

  • German language skills
