The Mobility Management Business Unit with its headquarters in Berlin provides signaling and control systems for worldwide mass transit and mainline rail Services.

The rail automation systems from the world market leader and pioneer of railway signaling systems create the relevant conditions for enhanced safety, punctuality, speed, capacity and energy efficiency both along lines and at stations. They open up the way for trains within the network and specify when, where and how fast trains are to travel. In future, a special focus of Rail Automation will lie on the optimization of entire operational sequences within rail transport. This covers operations control systems, inventory and maintenance management, fleet management, staff deployment planning, and passenger information systems. Siemens Rail Automation Spain (SRA) has taking a major role within Siemens MO as HQ for several portfolio solutions, including IPR, leading to seek and execute international offers and projects as BU function mainly but not only in MM BU. SRA is among GER, one of the short list regions with a solid RD department to develop new products and to perform specific modifications to customer projects.


Commercial Project Manager for RD/ENG BA (Madrid)

The role of Commercial Project Manager will mainly take financial / commercial management of Rail Automation Projects within RD during the execution phase of the project. Working as a business partner with technicians, the objective is to keep the project on budget, accuracy on the reporting and predictability on the forecast. The role includes undertaking detailed financial analysis, contract reviews, management reporting, budgeting and forecasting.

The role has no direct reports, works closely with existing personnel department, reports directly and functionally to the Head of BA RD&ENG.

What are my responsibilities?

  • General Commercial Project Management: Cost Controlling & Accounting, project forecasting & reporting: Month, quarter and fiscal year closing activities; Root cause analysis for deviations; Interface handling of day to day commercial issues. Commercial support to PM/Technicians.

  • Customer management: within the Technical PM, prepare, review, approve and control the offers, prepare and monitorize internal contracts with other regions, invoicing and direct responsible for BA queries.

  • Supplier Administration relation with purchase orders in direct link with procurement department (order, approval/release, monitoring) and invoicing reception.

  • Tax deduction due to RD Activities: support to external advisors to handle all necessary activities to maximize RD deduction in tax group CIT

  • RD PM Tool: responsible of the upload and accuracy of the actuals, permanent control of forecast. Part of core team with RD PME for new requirements and owner of administrative activities (create new SAP projects & closing…)

  • Stakeholder contact: point of CPM contact for RD portion in Customer Projects, HQ, Regions…

  • Develops continuous improvement plan in terms of digitalization for contributing in Lean process and tasks

  • Ensures compliance with Siemens-FRG plus the local GAAP requirements, international and local contracts.

  • Manages and enhances a proper working environment in her/his assigned area. 

  • Ensures to act according to the Business Conduct Guidelines and establishes a culture of trust and integrity.

    What do I need to qualify for this role?

  • Degree in Business Administration or Economics

  • Commercial project management experience in junior functions

  • Project planning and structuring

  • Supplier & Customer management

  • Calculation methods / Finance models / Forecasting

  • Project controlling (including customs, logistics, and export control)

  • Accounting principles (IFRS, Local GAAP), tax, insurances, Permanent Establishment

  • Management & HQ reporting

  • Risk, claim and FX management

  • Relevant IT systems (MS Office especially Excel, PowerPoint; SAP, Siemens internal tools)

  • Full professional proficiency in English and Spanish (both written and oral skills)

  • Good communication and negotiation skills

  • Multicultural team working experience

  • Critical thinking and analytical skills with excellent attention to quality and detail

  • Flexibility for occasional travelling
