Job Description

Siemens Rolling Stock are currently recruiting for Outstation Technicians to be based from the Clapham Traincare depot. The role of the Outstation Technician is to undertake maintenance of the depot rolling stock and plant and carry out associated activities that support the operation of the depot.

As an Outstation Technician, you will have electrical and mechanical background and experience of fault diagnosis. You don’t have to have background in the rail industry as we will provide you with full training. You will work out of the outstation locations, but your base location will be in the Clapham Traincare Depot.

This is a shift based role where the working pattern consists of permanent days/nights.

What are my Responsibilities?

  • With minimal supervision undertake maintenance and repair of the allocated rolling stock to meet the requirements of the production plan
  • Carry out advanced fault finding and diagnostic activities
  • Assist other team members with the development of technical skills
  • Assist with the provision of technical support at incidents off depot
  • Undertake any other duties as and when required
  • Produce complex, analytical technical reports on fault investigation
  • Specialise in areas of technical expertise
  • Assist with the provision of technical support at incidents off depot
  • Provide first line support at Stations.

What do I need to qualify for the role?

  • Must have relevant experience in a mechanical/electrical engineering environment
  • Ability to complete all records of actions and operations accurately and to procedures
  • Understands and cares for tools, equipment and PPE as appropriate
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety including bio-hazards, manual handling and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)
  • Ability to use a laptop for diagnostic purposes
  • Ability to understand and interpret relevant technical publications
  • Experience in fault finding
  • Ability to produce extensive technical reports

What else do I need to know?

This is a permanent opportunity and requires working on a shift pattern.

Interviews for this role are unlikely to take place until January 2019. We will also require you to complete some mandatory online testing for this role.
