We have an exciting opportunity for a junior developer to join a new, agile software team in Siemens, Manchester. The team will be producing IOT applications on the Siemens MindSphere platform to help utility companies reduce waste and improve efficiency and sustainability. The projects will be varied, with a selection of user stories and analytics to implement.
You will be involved in the development of both frontend and backend interfaces in a cloud microservice architecture. This role is perfectly suited to a developer with a well-rounded core skill set who is looking to develop deeper technical skills. There will be opportunities to work with experienced developers, as well as the potential for training in fields of expertise where the team requires it.
You will work collaboratively as part of a team to deliver full stack applications and you will have the ability to apply yourself to new and unfamiliar tools, technologies and challenges. This varied opportunity will also enable you to develop specialisms in any area of application development including; UX, data science, web applications/backend.
What part will you play?
- Frontend and backend programming of cloud-based applications using various libraries
- Helping to realise designs produced by UX designer
- Working with other developers to ensure high-quality, shareable code delivery
- Supporting data science and analytics through testing and development
- Participating in SCRUM meetings and agile development
We don’t need superheroes, just super minds
- Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- Experience of either frontend or backend web development, ideally both
- Familiarity with MVC architecture
- Backend: One of Node.js, Java or Python
- Methods: REST, microservices, test driven development
- Working styles: Agile development, SCRUM
- Knowledge of databases, MongoDB, SQL
- Familiar with version control, Git
- Relevant github projects would be advantageous
