Job Description

Siemens small gas turbine manufacturing company, Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery Ltd, has existed on its present site in Lincoln for over 50 years.  Lincoln is the base for the design and manufacture of world class gas turbines for applications within the Oil and Gas Industry and Industrial Power Generation (cogeneration).

Today the Lincoln business employs around 1200 people and is a major exporter with more than 3300 units sold operating in 89 countries. Lincoln provides its customers with expertise covering all aspects of industrial power plant technology including; research and development; engineering; manufacturing; project management and lifetime product support.  The business has won eight Queen’s Awards for Industry – five for Export, two for Technology and one for Environmental Technology associated with their world-leading Dry Low Emissions combustion technology.  The business continues to invest heavily in Research and Development in all areas, but particularly to improve efficiency, further reduce emissions and to widen the range of fuels that can be used.

The challenge
As a Finance intern at Siemens, you’ll be an integral member of the regular finance team and assist in driving the financial performance of the business, shaping new financial processes to ensure our continued success. You'll have the opportunity to perform key financial tasks that support Siemens core operations, and experience the day to day finance activity in support of a world leader in the supply and service of Industrial Gas Turbines. Working closely with teams from across our business, you’ll experience the end-to-end value chain from financial planning and controlling, to treasury and financial support of manufacturing operations.
Although final roles may vary, you could assist in a variety of key responsibilities including:

• Production of financial & management reports
• Maintenance and control of various ledgers (General ledger, Accounts receivable, Accounts Payable & Fixed assets)
• Financial modelling, valuations and analysis
• Finance input to commercial decisions
• Risk management and internal control
• Local and group accounting policies, standards and reporting
• Planning, target setting and budgeting
• Performance management, variance analysis and appraisal

The candidate
• Minimum 5 GCSE’s including English and Maths & 3 A-levels
• You’ll be working towards a Business, Finance, Economics or Accounting degree
• You’ll have experience in using Microsoft Office applications
• Show that you have an eye for detail
• Are flexible, know how to connect with others and pride yourself on bringing positive, bright ideas to the team
• Enjoy jumping in and, with support from us, feel confident taking responsibility for tasks and projects you’ve been assigned

We will be looking for evidence of activities carried out during university and during vacations.
