Business Development Manager


Join us at Siemens Financial Services (SFS) as a Business Development Manager for our Transportation channel to identify, develop, acquire and manage profitable new business in line with the SFS strategy. This will be achieved via all key channels including vendor/introducer and direct customer relationships. The location of this role is flexible as it is a field based role, you will be required to travel to customer sites across the UK on a regular basis and attend meetings in our Stoke Poges head office.


The role holder will have responsibility for the development of significant customer/vendor/introducer relationships, and be responsible for the achievement of new business volume at targeted return levels.


What are my responsibilities?


  • To develop strong relationships with key external customers, vendors and intermediaries in order to identify new business opportunities and to build effective and profitable new business relationships
  • Creation and implementation of effective plans for new business acquisition including both business from existing relationships and strategies for acquisition of new ones
  • Structuring and presentation of credit submissions by working in collaboration with key areas of the business such as Asset Management, Risk, Commercial, Financial Planning and Analysis etc
  • Manage other key internal relationships to ensure operational and performance excellence within the Transportation division
  • Assist with managing key external relationships as necessary in order to drive forward and promote SFS within the wider transport sector, and to develop knowledge and experience within the sector
  • To monitor competitor activity within the channel and implement action plans to ensure the profile of SFS is maintained and improved


What skills and experience are required?

  • Sound commercial understanding and awareness of the financing industry gained within the asset finance and/or similar equipment related environment
  • Broad and deep experience of working in sales / business development in an external customer facing role
  • Experience developing new business and strengthening business network to develop and deepen customer relationships
  • Strong sector knowledge in key sector asset areas – commercial vehicles, trailers, buses and coaches
  • Strong attention to detail and service ethos
  • Able to communicate complex and technical issues clearly and succinctly
  • Demonstrable experience in negotiating/influencing at Senior Management Level both internally and externally
  • Deep understanding of the sales process and customer behaviours, including excellent negotiating skills
  • Understanding of asset management, credit risk, and other internal functions and processes linked to the sales channel
  • Ability to work independently whilst also driving the team sales strategy and overall business objectives
  • Good grasp of IT / Microsoft Office applications / online based applications
