Job Description

Software Tester & Application Engineer Madymo

Location: Rijswijk office

Simcenter Madymo is the worldwide standard software for analyzing and optimizing occupant and pedestrian safety designs. Using Simcenter Madymo, researchers and engineers can model, thoroughly analyze and optimize safety designs early in the development process. The Madymo Workspace component is the pre- and postprocessing module, offering the user access to the powerful features and various results of the underlying solver module.

To strengthen the team and to validate new functionality for our Madymo software, we have an immediate full-time opening for an experienced Software Test and Application Engineer. We are looking for a motivated candidate who can represent the customer in our software usage and testing process.

Job Responsibilities:

As part of the SCRUM team you will review functional requirements, help translate domain knowledge to software specifications, and create test cases to ensure that overall quality is delivered.  You will help identify, analyze and document software defects and software behavior that is inconsistent with defined user stories.

As Software Test and Application Engineer you will be responsible for the analysis, reporting and communication of test results. You will assist in evaluating product defects reported by our customers and create, maintain and schedule automated test cases.

Manual test cases will need to be executed if they cannot be automated and you will contribute to improve test methods and strategies. When necessary, you will escalate test (quality) risks to management and propose possible mitigation activities.

Ideal Background & Education:

  • Education level: Master or Bachelor degree, preferably in mechanical engineering or similar (such as automotive or aerospace engineering).
  • Experience with numerical modelling, preferably in automotive context: simulation process and software testing, troubleshooting, and/or user support.
  • An adequate level of verbal and written English, and preferably Dutch.
  • Knowledge and experience with non-linear dynamic simulation (LS-Dyna, Abaqus, Radioss,…) are a plus.
  • Knowledge of programming tools such as C++, Scripting and Python is a plus, as well as of version control tools such as Git (or GitLab), Mercurial, or Subversion.
  • Knowledge and experience with test automation such as JUnit, CTest and Squish/Qt are a plus.
  • Agile development (SCRUM) experience is a plus.
  • ISTQB/TMAP (foundation) certification is a plus.
  • The main development environment is MS-Windows (experience with Linux is a strong plus), with the Atlassian toolsuite (i.e. Jira Agile, Confluence).

Personality:

We are looking for a team player with an analytical mindset, willing to pick up new challenges, someone who is pragmatic, result oriented and inventive regarding complex problems. Our preferred candidate is eager to take initiative and responsibility.
